FAQ
Segment Creation
What does the star represent next to the keyword in my include core?
Clicking on the star next to a keyword will add it as a favorite, which means that the word will have a higher weight.
What is the purpose of adding another include core?
If you would like to retrieve results about different topics, you can add another include core. The results retrieved will only be pages containing the words from both include cores.
How are URL scores determined?
For every URL fetched we score it with contextual segments based on the weight of words in the page and in the segment.
How are the top 100 matching URLs determined?
The URLs appearing in the top 100 are the best matching URLs from the ones having been scored with a score of 4.
How is the Impression Estimate calculated?
The impression estimate represents the number of times we saw a URL over a 30 day period. It should be noted that this is limited to the contextual owner scope, for example a page could be seen 10 times per contextual owner "wb" and 100 times per contextual owner "366". A contextual owner is a list of (touchpoints = source of data). For each owner, it’s the sum of all impressions per touchpoint.
It should be noted that the impression estimate does not represent the number of unique users or the number of views per ad placement on a page.
Segment Activation
When streaming my segments, will I see matching URLs from the past 30 days?
No, when you stream a segment you will see only new URLs that were seen from the moment you stream. There is no bootstrap based on the last 30 days. The matching URLs is an indicator based on history.
What does the Campaign Goal represent when activating my segment?
This is a reverse pyramid in which the level of accuracy increase with each threshold, with the Engagement threshold being the most accurate. This means that you will get URLs scored with higher scores, with the Engagement threshold corresponding to URLs having a score of 4.
Collect
In the case where a client’s website has a paywall and provides us a RSS feed, how is the impression estimate calculated?
The impression estimate and number of times that a URL is seen is calculated through Wamfactory hits, which doesn't bypass the paywall, whereas we are pulling just the full content from the RSS feed. And so the RSS feed has no impact on the impression estimate.
Is there an impact on URL volume when using a RSS feed?
There is no real impact on URL volume.
When using a RSS feed, are all volumes based on 30 days recency?
Yes volumes are based on 30 day recency, but it's important to understand that the impression estimate is based on the number of times a URL was seen in the past 30 days regardless of when it was published, for example if content was published two years ago this would still be factored in. Whereas the RSS feed is recently published content.
Is all content pulled and analyzed from the client’s website when using a RSS feed?
No, only new published content is analyzed and we save it for only 30 days. We don't need to fetch but we have to apply NLP to transform text to lemmas and profile.
Do we still need to wait for profiles to be delivered when using a RSS feed?
We use the RSS feed as well as URLs coming from Wamfactory, so you have to wait for URL profiles delivery that is launched every two hours.
